FREMONT -- Washington Hospital is offering flu vaccinations on Thursday.

From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., children and adults 3 years and older can get a mercury-free flu shot for $10 on the first floor of the Washington West building on Mowry Avenue.

Hospital officials urge shots for those 6 months and older, but ask parents to take children under 3 to see their pediatrician for a vaccine.

More than 375 people were vaccinated during two similar events last week at the Washington Urgent Care, according to Gisela Hernandez, spokeswoman for the Washington Township Health Care District.

Hospital officials say the vaccine is the most important step to protect against the flu, and urge people to wash their hands often and thoroughly with soap and warm water to prevent spread of the virus.

Flu vaccines will continue to be offered after the event at the Washington Urgent Care, open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Appointments are not needed.
