MOUNTAIN VIEW -- Hoping to revitalize itself, information security company Symantec on Wednesday said it will streamline its operations, simplify its products and focus more on solving its customers' biggest problems.
CEO Steve Bennett will remain president and board member Dan Schulman will become chairman.
In its earnings report, the maker of Norton anti-virus software said its sales for the third quarter totaled nearly $1.8 billion, up 4 percent from the same period a year ago. It said it earned $212 million in profit, but that was down 12 percent from a year ago.
