HAYWARD -- Power has been restored to more than 1,000 PG&E customers who were without power early Monday after a car crashed into a power pole.
PG&E work crews ended the blackout for the final 300 customers without power at about 9:15 a.m., PG&E spokesman Jason King said. The outage, which was first reported about 1:30 a.m. when a car crashed into a power pole in the area of Penny Lane and Hesperian Boulevard, left 2,830 people without power, King said.
More than 2,400 of those customers had electricity back by 4 a.m., King said.
The driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured, police said.
