Boys U11-Division I

Atletico Santa Rosa Chivitas 3, BUSC Premier 2: The U11 Ballistic Premier team played a competitive game against Santa Rosa in the State Cup Finals. The game was tied 2-2 after regulation and after double overtime. The Ballistic Premier lost in penalty kicks but had a great season. The Ballistic Premier won two tournaments, placed second in another tournament, and are now ranked 10th in the state in its respective division.

Speedo Winter Sectional Championships

Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool, Long Beach

Dec. 12-16, 2012

The Pleasanton Seahawks swept the team portion of the Winter Sectional meet, finishing in first with 1,419.5 points overall. The second place team, Aquazot Swim Club-Irvine, finished second with 1,137 points. The Seahawks girls team claimed first win over the Sandpipers-Nevada and the Seahawk boys placed second behind the Aquazot men.

Top scoring finalists on the girls team: Celina Li captured the high point winner of the meet winning the 1000 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 200 IM, and also place second in the 400 IM, third in the 200 freestyle, and fourth in the 200 butterfly. Moriah Simonds took third in the 500/1000/1650 freestyle (three new US Open Times), 200 freestyle, 200 IM; Kirsten Brand 100/200/500/1000 freestyle; Cayla Jetter 500/1000/1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke; Iris Brand 50/100 freestyle (second), 200 freestyle; Eva Chung 100/200 breaststroke, Katie Woods 1000 freestyle, Marissa Bergh 100 freestyle. Other participants with notable swims: Hannah Bergh, Samantha Howell, Rachel Knowles, Anna Parker, Emily Saccullo, and Maggie Woods. The women's A and B relay teams scored high point totals.

Top scoring finalist on the boys team: Nick Silverthorn 200/500 freestyle, 100 breaststroke (first), 200 breast (second-new US Open), 200/400 IM; Jason Chen 50/200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, 200 IM; Maxime Rooney 1000/1650 freestyle (second), 100 backstroke, 200 IM; Nick Johnston 200 freestyle, 100/200 backstroke (New Junior National); Tony Shen, Clayton Young and James Thompson reached the finals in the 200/500 freestyle. Other participants with notable swims: Regis LaChance and Kevin McLaughlin. The men's A and B relay teams scored points towards their first place win.

Gold Medal Award

The Pleasanton Seahawks were awarded the Gold Medal Club Award in December, for the accomplishments of their senior level swimmers holding Junior National and US Open times. The Seahawks now represent the top 20 senior clubs in the nation. The Club Excellence Program is a program that identifies and recognizes USA Swimming clubs for their commitment to performance excellence. The program provides grant funding and recognizes the club development system as integral to achieving excellence in the sport.
