SAN JOSE -- An adult male fell from the 4th floor of a parking structure at Valley Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon and died, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.
Emergency medical personnel that were on the scene quickly initiated CPR on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man, who has not yet been identified, had been threatening to jump. It's unclear if he fell by accident or purposefully fell.
"He was obviously suicidal because he was sitting on the ledge for over two hours," said Sgt. Jose Cordoza of Sheriff's Office. "It's not clear if he fell or purposefully fell."
Following a 911 call at approximately 1:35 p.m., authorities engaged the man in a dialogue. Cardoza said the man fell at approximately 4:00 p.m .onto the concrete at the entrance to the Medical Center's first floor.
