A woman and her dog were rescued near Fort Funston in San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon, a fire department spokeswoman said.
Firefighters responded at about 3:50 p.m. to a report of a woman and dog that went over a cliff, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
The woman was able to climb down to the beach while the dog remained on the cliff, Talmadge said.
Firefighters are not able to reach the woman so a U.S. Coast Guard was expected to pick her up via helicopter while the dog is extricated from the cliff, according to Talmadge.
Talmadge did not know what, if any, injuries she might have suffered.
