Hornets try to rebound from losses

Alameda High's Keelan Doss (1) attempts a basket against Castro Valley's Orion Suber (24) during the first half of a game at Alameda on Jan. 25. Despite a game-high 15 points from Doss, the Hornets boys basketball team was edged by the Trojans 48-45. It was the second close loss of last week for the Alameda squad, which fell to San Leandro on Jan. 23 by less than five points. Also, Alameda High athletic director Brad Thomas confirmed on Jan. 25 that the team was forfeiting its first four wins of this season due to the use of two ineligible players. The victories against Petaluma, Casa Grande, Washington-San Francisco and Fairfield all occurred in December. Thomas said there was a paperwork error.
