ANTIOCH -- A 28-year-old Antioch man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter early Saturday morning after his car lost control, struck a tree and killed a pedestrian, police said.

The driver, Gerald Massey, was taken to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries after the crash. No one else was injured.

Police were called to the 3900 block of Delta Fair Boulevard about 1:41 a.m. Saturday, according to police. The vehicle had come to rest on a sidewalk, with the pedestrian pinned underneath and the driver trapped inside.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
