SAN LORENZO -- One person suffered major head trauma when an SUV and a big rig collided on Interstate 880 on Thursday night.
At around 9:28 p.m., CHP received reports of a vehicle that had clipped a big rig, then swerved and hit the center divide before coming to a rest in the fast lane.
Emergency crews that arrived said the driver of the SUV suffered major head trauma and was taken to a local hospital.
The severity of the injury and the driver's identity were not available.
CHP blocked off the number one through number three lanes just south of Paseo Grande while crews worked to investigate and clear the scene.
There is no estimated time of re-opening, according to CHP.
Drivers can expect delays in both directions on I-880.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
