PEBBLE BEACH -- PGA Tour leading money-winner Brandt Snedeker shot a bogey-free, 4-under-par 68 at Spyglass Hill Friday to grab a share of the second-round lead with Ted Potter Jr. at 8-under par 134 in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Snedeker and Potter held a one-stroke lead over Sweden's Fredrik Jacobson, first-round leader Hunter Mahan, Patrick Reed and John Merrick at the tournament's halfway point, with four more players two shots back.
Snedeker, 32, is looking for his first win of the year, but has two second-place finishes and a third in four prior 2013 starts heading into the AT&T to put himself at the top of the money list as well as the FedEx Cup standings.
He put himself in good position again with birdies on the 12th and 14th starting on the back nine at Spyglass, then finished his round with a flourish, adding birdies at Nos. 7 and 8 before closing his round with a pair. Snedeker shot a 4-under 66 at Monterey Peninsula Country Club Thursday.
Potter, who scored his first PGA Tour win last year after 18 victories over several seasons on satellite tours, was the first player in the clubhouse at 8-under after a 3-under 67 at Monterey Peninsula Country Club, which followed up a 5-under 67 at Pebble Beach on Thursday.
Defending champion and four-time AT&T winner Phil Mickelson was still in contention following a 1-under 71 at Spyglass. He's tied for 41st at 2-under for the tournament, six shots off the lead. Mickelson made up six shots in the final round by shooting a 64 at Pebble Beach a year ago to win the tournament.
