SAN LUIS OBISPO -- A California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo student from Orinda died over the weekend on campus, his body found outside a campus residence hall.

University police responding to an emergency call late Saturday found 20-year-old Brandon Huang unresponsive outside the Poly Canyon Village residence hall. He was apparently returning to the residence hall from off campus.

The Tribune of San Luis Obispo (http://bit.ly/UYGUez ) says Huang was pronounced dead at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center.

The San Luis Obispo county coroner's office is scheduled to perform an autopsy Thursday and will determine a cause of death following the results of toxicology reports which could take two to three weeks, a sheriff's department official said.

A campus police official said Monday that an investigation is continuing. He did not release any further details.

A statement by university president Jeffrey D. Armstrong and Keith Humphries, vice president for student affairs at CalPoly, said police had found no evidence of foul play.

Huang was a second-year biology major who graduated from Miramonte High School in 2011, and had played varsity basketball there. Athletic director Vince Dell'Aquila remembered Huang as a quiet but fun-loving young man, and said he was very likeable and a good teammate.

School officials were notified Monday of Huang's death.
