DANVILLE -- A Danville man was arrested Thursday after police said they discovered evidence in his home linking him to a string of residential burglaries in Danville and Blackhawk over the past two months.

Charles Ratazak, 25, was arrested Thursday morning after detectives issued a search warrant at his home in the 100 block of Narcissus Court about 11:30 a.m., and found evidence linking him to the burglaries, Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins said.

Ratazak was taken to the Martinez Detention facility, where he was booked on charges of residential burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance for sale and a probation violation.

Police began receiving reports in December 2012 from residents in surrounding neighborhoods claiming they'd been burglarized, Simpkins said. One resident, who has not been identified, provided police with surveillance video that showed the suspect entering a home. Other residents in Danville and Blackhawk soon came forward with additional information.

Chief Simpkins said he was very happy with the solid police work that led to the arrest.

"Our officers were getting excellent information from the residents being affected in these burglaries," Simpkins said. "They were able to use it to make an arrest and bring peace of mind to the neighborhood."
