STANFORD -- Stanford backup quarterback Josh Nunes will miss spring football practice after suffering an undisclosed injury, coach David Shaw said Friday.
"It was a freak occurrence," Shaw said. "He'll be in sling but he will make a full recovery."
Shaw said the former starter suffered the injury during a workout within the past two weeks.
"It shocked us," Shaw said. "It's something that never happened before."
With former Monte Vista-Danville star Brett Nottingham transferring to Columbia, Nunes' injury gives young quarterbacks Evan Crower and Dallas Lloyd a chance to showcase their skills this spring. Kevin Hogan is the starting quarterback.
"This will be a huge spring for Evan," Shaw said. "We wanted to give him an opportunity to compete, to see how he handles live drills."
