HAYWARD -- The body of a homeless woman was found in a makeshift shelter behind a grocery store Monday night, police said.

When police arrived about 6:30 p.m., they found Hope Williams, 43, inside the shelter near a wooded area behind the Food Maxx at 30073 Industrial Parkway, said Hayward Police Sgt. Mark Ormsby.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, Ormsby said. Foul play is not suspected, he said.

The Alameda County Coroner's Office has not yet done an autopsy to determine the cause of death, a spokeman said Tuesday.
