SANTA CLARA -- A popular liquor store has been given a suspension after an investigation revealed illegal gambling and the sale of drug paraphernalia at the business, according to the state department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
The regulatory agency posted Friday a 30-day notice of suspension for Hana's Bottle Shop in the 3100 block of El Camino Real. Santa Clara police were tipped off to possible illicit activity by the merchant after receiving multiple complaints.
A joint undercover sting by police and ABC was conducted over two months and investigators discovered customers could receive cash payouts from gaming machines at the store, and also found drug paraphernalia for sale, according to a news release.
The sting was supported in part by grant funding through the state agency.
