SAN LORENZO -- A two-vehicle crash involving a car and a motorcycle along Interstate 880 sent a man to the hospital and slowed traffic for about a half-hour Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded at 6:26 a.m. to a report of an injury collision in the southbound lanes of I-880 near the Lewelling Boulevard off ramp, said Officer Kevin Bartlett. When officers arrived they found the driver of a Kawasaki motorcycle lying on the ground in a lane of traffic.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital to be treated for unknown injuries, Bartlett said.

The driver of the BMW was not injured, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle and a white BMW were involved in the crash, which closed at least one lane of traffic for a short time, Bartlett said.

Officers reopened all lanes of traffic about 6:55 a.m. What caused the crash was not immediately known.
