OAKLAND -- A 16-year-old boy was in critical but stable condition after he was shot Thursday night, police said.

Officers were called out to Fairfax and Courtland avenues just after 8 p.m., where they found one male teenager suffering from gunshot wounds. His identity has not been released.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, and no suspects or motives have been identified in the shooting, police said.

This was the second shooting involving a teenage boy Thursday.

Earlier, a 17-year-old student who was jogging to sports practice at Fremont High School was shot in the leg in front of the school.

The student, a senior at the school, was taken to Highland Hospital for treatment after the 4 p.m. shooting in the 4600 block of Foothill Boulevard. He was in good condition and expected to recover, said the school's principal, Daniel Hurst.
