SANTA CRUZ - The UC Santa Cruz student who died after falling down a 75-foot ravine has been identified as undergraduate Tyler Collins.
Collins, 19, was found at the bottom of the ravine near a pedestrian bridge around 9 a.m. Wednesday. The bridge is near the student health center, university spokesman Jim Burns said.
Collins, who enrolled in September 2011, was air-lifted to Valley Medical Center in Santa Clara County for treatment. Late Wednesday, Burns said the man had died.
Thursday, Burns said investigators have determined no foul play was involved but said they are still investigating how or why Collins fell.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office.
Collins was majoring in computer science at UCSC, Burns said.
