SAN LEANDRO -- In honor of Women's History Month, San Leandro's city attorney will discuss her work history and achievements at the San Leandro Main Library March 30.

City Attorney Jayne Williams, head of the crisis management practice for Oakland-based law firm Meyers Nave, will speak at the free event Saturday, March 30 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the library at 300 Estudillo Avenue.

Williams was named one of 40 "Women Leaders in Law" in 2012 by legal periodical The Recorder. She was previously honored as "Black Alumni of the Year" by her alma mater Hastings School of Law, and received an Award of Excellence from the school's Clara Foltz Feminist Association, among other accolades.

She began her career in 1974 in Oakland's city attorney office and served as Oakland's city attorney for 14 years. She joined Meyers Nave in 2000 and has served as city attorney of San Leandro since 2003.
