HAYWARD -- The Bishop O'Dowd High girls basketball team struggled at times to find its offensive flow on Friday, but still cruised to a 55-30 victory over Brookside Christian-Stockton in a first-round Open Division Northern California regional playoff game at Chabot College.

Oderah Chidom had 15 points and 13 rebounds and Breanna Brown added 13 points and 13 rebounds to lead No. 1 seed O'Dowd (27-3) past the Knights (26-5). The Dragons move on to the NorCal quarterfinals on Tuesday, where they will face either St. Mary's-Berkeley or Sacramento.

The Dragons didn't play particularly well for the first 1 ½ quarters, although they did hold Brookside Christian scoreless for a six-minute stretch in the first quarter.

Nearing the midway point of the second, O'Dowd -- which is scoring 66 points per game with an average margin of victory of 30 -- held only a 13-9 lead.

The Dragons found their stride over the final 4 minutes, 8 seconds of the quarter. During that time, they scored nearly as many points as they had up until then and took a 25-15 lead into the break.

The second half was mostly smooth sailing as O'Dowd pushed the lead over 20 points late in the third quarter and rolled to its second victory over Brookside this season. The Dragons handed the defending Division V state champion Knights a 70-39 loss on Jan. 19.
