SAN LEANDRO -- A citizen's tip led officers to a pair of burglars who had just finished taking items from a nearby home Tuesday morning, police said.

A caller tipped police to a pair of men she did not recognize who were loading a television into a vehicle about 10 a.m. in the 14800 block of Lark Street, according to a statement from San Leandro police.

Police responded and began searching the area, quickly locating the pair's car driving through the neighborhood. When officers attempted to stop them, they fled on foot.

Using dogs to assist, officers searched yard-to-yard and found two suspects. Police arrested DeAndre Valentine, 19, of Pittsburg, and Malcolm Walker, 20, of unincorporated San Leandro.

Both men were booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on suspicion of burglary and possessing stolen property.
