CONTRA COSTA COUNTY -- Private nonprofit organizations interested in competing for $2.82 million in new funding earmarked for state inmate transition services in Contra Costa County must attend one of three bidders' conferences set for March 27.
Contra Costa will award later this year $2 million for employment support and placement services for former felons; $500,000 for housing; $200,000 for peer and mentoring support; and $120,000 toward planning for three re-entry resource centers.
The funds are part of the state Public Safety Realignment program, or Assembly Bill 109 and AB117, where responsibility for lower-level offenders is shifted from the state to counties along with some cash. The county will spend some of the money on services intended to reduce the rate by which the offenders commit new crimes and return to prison.
The mandatory bidders' conferences will be held on March 27 at the following times and locations:
Proposals are due no later than 5 p.m. on April 15.
