Allegiant Air will launch twice-weekly flights from Oakland to Provo, Utah, starting June 7.

Provo, the home of Brigham Young University, will be the seventh city served by Allegiant this summer out of Oakland International Airport.

"Oakland is a great gateway to the Bay Area and Northern California. We expect a demand for vacation travel to San Francisco, as well as visiting friends and family," Allegiant spokeswoman Jessica Wheeler said.

The nonstops to Utah will leave the East Bay at 7:30 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays, landing in Provo at 10:10 a.m. Return flights will depart Utah at 10:50 a.m. and arrive in Oakland at 11:40 a.m., according to airport and airline officials. Allegiant will use 166-seat MD-80s on the route.

An introductory one-way fare of $59.99 is available at www.allegiantair.com. Seats at that price are limited, and tickets must be purchased by March 27 for travel through Oct. 28.
