OAKLAND --A woman was arrested after police say she struck and killed a bicyclist in the city late Saturday night, fled the fatal crash and then returned to the scene hours later.
The victim's identity was not known on Sunday, police said.
Officers were called to the 2600 block of Peralta Street about 10:20 p.m. for a report of a bicyclist struck by a vehicle that had fled the scene, said Officer J. Moore.
The victim, who authorities said is a man, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A few hours later, the driver of the vehicle involved in the hit and run, returned to the scene and was arrested in connection to the fatal crash, Moore said.
The name of the driver was not released on Sunday.
Authorities on Sunday were still attempting to identify the victim, an Alameda County Coroner's Office spokeswoman said.
