The gray and cloudy skies hovering above the Bay Area today will likely have more bark than bite.

There is a 30 percent chance of rain today throughout the Bay Area, but should some of the wet stuff fall, "there's not going to be much of it," said Diana Henderson, a forecaster with the National Weather Service.

"It will look threatening, but that will be the most of it," Henderson said.

Temperatures are expected to hit the upper-60s and low-70s today in the Bay Area, according to the weather service. In San Jose, a high of 69 is expected.

Partly sunny skies are expected to return Friday, with highs in the low 70s, according to the weather service.

There is a stronger chance of rain this weekend, but the Bay Area may not get more than a half-an-inch in locations closer to the hills, Henderson said.

"Unfortunately this weekend won't get us out of our dry spell," Henderson said.
