Two Newark teens were arrested last week for allegedly prowling at a home on the 100 block of Washington Drive, Milpitas Police Department reported.
On March 15 at about 12:08 p.m., Milpitas police officers responded to the residence on a report of a boy and girl -- both 16 -- attempting to burglarize the home. The first officer arrived on scene in about 70 seconds. Two teenagers matching the description were located and detained nearby, and the victim identified them as the same people attempting to burglarize the residence, police said.
During the investigation, it was determined the girl allegedly knocked on the front door of the residence to see if anyone was home. After no one came to answer the door, the boy allegedly attempted to open a side gate leading into the back yard, police said.
The victim yelled out to the suspects and they fled from the residence, police said.
Both juveniles were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, prowling and providing false identification to a police officer. The boy was also charged with probation violation, police said.
