OAKLAND -- A 31-year-old Oakland man is dead after police say he was shot while sitting inside a car Sunday morning.

The man, whose name has not been released, was shot around 10:05 a.m. in the 2400 block of 68th Avenue and died about 30 minutes later at a hospital, said Oakland police Officer J. Moore.

Police said the man lived in the area where he was shot. A gunman fled in a vehicle with other occupants.

As of Sunday evening, no motive was known and no one had been arrested, police said.

This was Oakland's 21st homicide of 2013. Last year at this time, there were 27 homicides.
