OAKLAND -- A man was fatally shot in East Oakland on Sunday night -- the second homicide in the city in less than six hours, police said.

Officers were called at 4:10 p.m. to the 8900 block of International Boulevard for a report of shots fired, said Officer Kevin McDonald. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

A motive was not immediately known, and as of 8:40 p.m. there were no suspects, police said.

The man's death marked the city's 22nd homicide of the year.

Earlier Sunday, a 31-year-old Oakland man was shot while sitting inside a car, police said. That man, whose name has not been released, was shot around 10:05 a.m. in the 2400 block of 68th Avenue and died about 30 minutes later at a hospital.

Police said the man lived in the area where he was shot. A gunman fled in a vehicle with other occupants.

As of Sunday evening, no motive was known and no one had been arrested in that incident, police said.

Last year at this time, there were 27 homicides.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the killer. Anyone with information can contact police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572 or 510-777-3211 or by email at Oaklandhomicide@oaklandnet.com.
