Alameda Little League

Majors Division

The Open Group Cubs 5, Greens and Grains Cardinals 0: Dean Sarmiento put the Cubs on his back and pitched three scoreless innings. He also contributed two hits, while Elias Faizi, Michael Narensky, and Mason Layag each singled. For the Cardinals, Tristan Good doubled and Ian Joyce had a line drive single. Arvin Enkhbold made a tough catch in right, while Jack Farner and Iany Joyce pitched effectively.

AAA Division

Dr. Vicki Wang Orthodontics Red Wings 17, Alameda Police Manager's Association Iron Pigs 16: Michael Shih pitched two scoreless innings and hit an in-the-park home run to lead the Red Wings. Catcher, Jerick Griego, threw out a base runner attempting to steal second and also caught a foul ball behind first base. Zach Hester added three hits, including a triple. After trailing 10-1, the Iron rallied behind home runs from Hai Hyunh and Brandlon Lim. The defense along with pitchers, Hyunh and Kyle Spaulding, kept the game within reach.

AA Division

Karin Fox-Harbor Bay Realty 9, Bowzer's Pizza River Dogs 7: For Harbor Bay Realty, Shamar Cook hit a home run and Nicolas Ignaszewski pitched two scoreless innings. Michael Chun and Aiden Dudley played solid defense.

Stem to Stern Boating Service Mudhens 9, Alameda Pediatric Dentistry Knights 2: For the Mudhens, Shannen Howard stole home and drove in a run. Teddy Hernandez contributed two RBI and closed out the game on the mound. Lucas Baldizan pitched a scoreless fifth inning and played strong defense. Pitcher Zachary Hayward struck out five and stole three bases for the Knights. Jonathan Schnoebelen pitched two scoreless innings and struck out five, while Jack Obot hit a single and stole a base.

A Division

Torrey Pines Bank-Owlz 8, Alameda Elks Lodge #1015-Mets 4: For the Owlz, Eliab Yared had two hits and one RBI. Sanjay Cordova added an RBI single and Kai Shimp made several nice plays in the field.

Anna Mania-Attorney at Law Tin Caps 18, Baron's Meat and Poultry Raptors 10: For the Tin Caps, Anthony Jones and Nathan Kent both went 3 for 3. Jones had a line drive that reached the outfield and Kent had two RBI doubles. Justin Hooper went 2 for 3.

Dr. Vicki Wang Orthodontics Iron Birds 13, Alameda Family Dentistry Grasshoppers 9: For the IronBirds, Ronan Johns led the offense with a 3 for 3 day at the plate. Wesley Karp made an unassisted out at second base and both Akira Tamaoki and Oliver Stouffer caught fly balls. For the Grasshoppers, Scanlan Derrick, Elek Strong, Dylan McGrew, Davien Deala, and Evan Green contributed RBIs. Logan Wilson and D.J. Yakura hit doubles and drove in runs.

Farm Division

Maureen Shandobil-Harbor Bay Realty vs. Future Star Baseball Marlins: Jason Johnston led the Rockies defense with an unassisted double play at third base. Sophia Stento flashed the leather and had a good game in the field. Offensively, Samuel Lovering had a double while Zach Pippen and Marco Garcia showed hustle on the base paths.

Tee-Ball Division

Cerda-Zein Real Estate Pirates vs. United Brokers Real Estate Dodgers: For the Cerda-Zein Pirates, Paige Van Derveer led off the second inning with a base hit. Amaru Guerra caught a tough ball at first base and Daniel Revels played well. For the Dodgers, Seneca Elter hit a home run and Lana Schullstrom recorded two put-outs at first base. Archer Schullstrom and Christopher Cravalho played strong defense.

Yojimbo Giants vs Apodaca Mechanical, Inc. Rangers: For the Giants, Christian DeGuzman had two hits and showed his speed on the base paths. Rowan Stewart also contributed two hits and played heads-up defense.

Sailing

NorCal Sailing Championship

Olivia Godfrey, Skipper and Senior at Alameda High, and crew Drake Hayes (8th grade at NEA) finished 13th out of 27 qualifying boats in the Gold Fleet at the 2013 NorCal High School Sailing Championship, which was held March 23-24 along the waterfront in San Francisco under clear skies and strong winds.

Skipper Miles Orozco (Freshman at ACLC), with crew Brianna Devlin (Sophmore at Alameda high) and Aitor Iriso (8th grade at ACLA) finished sixth in the Silver Fleet. Out of the 12 races they had two second place wins.
