Fremont officers responding to a domestic dispute about 7:15 p.m. found the 73-year-old man lying on the kitchen floor in a puddle of blood at a home in the 37800 block of Argyle Road, in the close-knit neighborhood of Glenmoor, Detective Bill Veteran said. The man lay unresponsive and bleeding from the head, a victim of apparent blunt force trauma.

According to Veteran, the victim's wife called police and told officers that her adult daughter was at the house in violation of a restraining order and that she had hit her father over the head with an unknown object during an argument.

The daughter was still at the house when police arrived, and she briefly struggled with officers before they arrested her, Veteran said.

The man was taken to a local trauma center, where he was pronounced dead.

Veteran would not comment on the woman's mental condition or her relationship with her father. The woman was taken to Santa Rita Jail, where she will face charges of first-degree murder.

Jail records show that Fremont police arrested Megan O'Connell, 29, about 7:30 p.m. Thursday and booked her into Santa Rita Jail on Friday morning on suspicion of murder. Veteran would not confirm O'Connell's identity Friday evening.
