HALF MOON BAY -- Authorities were working to identify a decomposed body found floating in the Pacific Ocean off a Half Moon Bay beach Sunday, police said.
San Mateo County sheriff's deputies pulled the man's body from the water off Miramar Beach around 5 p.m. after it was spotted by some people who were passing by, San Mateo County Sheriff's Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.
There were "no glaring signs of who he was or what may have happened," she added.
Coroner Robert Foucrault said investigators were trying get fingerprints from the body, but may also use dental records for identification. As of Monday afternoon, the coroner said he had no leads on the dead man's name or how he died.
