SAN JOSE -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a 76-year-old man with early signs of dementia who went missing Sunday evening.

Alfonso Lopez was last seen at a friends' house in the area of Story and White roads in East San Jose round 5 p.m. He said that he was going out for a walk and did not return. He was wearing khaki pants, a black-and-white striped shirt and a green jacked with blue around the wrists. He is 4-foot-11, 160 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.

He walks with a limp and frequents the area around Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 2020 E. San Antonio St., about two miles west of where he was last seen.

Anyone who spots Lopez or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call the police department's missing persons unit at 408-277-4786.
