SAN LORENZO -- A woman was found dead in a pool of blood in her driveway early Sunday, and deputies were trying to determine if her death was an accident or a homicide, authorities said.
A neighbor spotted the woman lying in the driveway in the 16000 block of Silverleaf Drive around 2:50 a.m. and called for help, said Alameda County Sheriff's Office Sgt. J.D. Nelson. The unnamed woman, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
While there was no doubt the woman had suffered a major injury, it wasn't immediately clear how she died or what killed her, said Nelson. The county Coroner's Bureau will determine how she died, but that could take at least a couple of days.
In the meantime, investigators were at the woman's home Sunday trying to piece together her final hours. Detectives were also looking for witnesses or family members.
