OAKLAND -- Dozens of police, SWAT officers and FBI agents converged Wednesday night on a public housing complex in West Oakland to serve at least one search warrant, police said.

Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson declined to comment on the operation other than to say a search warrant was being served in West Oakland. Watson would not identify the subject of the warrant or any suspects being sought.

More than a dozen SWAT officers were at the Acorn complex at 8th and Adeline streets shortly 8 p.m. Wednesday and left the scene on two armored vehicles less than 45 minutes later.

The group, in the armored vehicles and several unmarked cars and trucks, then congregated at 15th and Wood streets but it was not immediately clear if more search warrants were served in that area Wednesday night.
