OAKLAND -- A man killed in a drive-by shooting Friday night near Children's Hospital in North Oakland that also wounded two other people was identified by police Saturday as 19-year-old Ceejay Reed.
Another 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were also shot but will recover from their wounds, police said. Their names were not released, but authorities said they are from Oakland.
The shooting happened about 9:26 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of 53rd Street, a short distance from the hospital.
Police said Reed, who lived in the area, and the others had just parked the car they were in after returning from a friend's house.
They were walking on the sidewalk when at least one person in a passing car opened fire on them, police said. At least one house was hit by gunfire, but no one inside was injured, police said.
Another person drove the trio to Children's Hospital, where Reed died at 9:46 p.m., police said.
The wounded man and woman were later transferred to other hospitals.
Sgt. Sean Fleming said police don't have a motive yet for the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
The shooting site is roughly two blocks from the 600 block of 54th Street near Shattuck Avenue, where Donitra Henderson, 21, of San Leandro, was fatally shot Wednesday night while her 4-year-old son sat in the back seat of her car. Another woman was with her at the time, but she was not injured.
No arrests have been made in that case, but police said the two killings are not believed to be linked.
Friday's killing was the city's 32nd homicide of the year. Last year at this time, there were 40 homicides in Oakland.
Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $20,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the gunman in Friday's shooting. Anyone with information should call police at 510-238-3821 or a tip line at 510-773-2805.
