NEWARK -- Police are looking for at least one suspect in a Friday morning home-invasion burglary attempt.

Police were called to a home on Marsten Drive at 10:15 a.m. A woman at the home told them that a man, who had gotten into the home through a rear window, had forced her into a bathroom and shut the door, holding it closed to keep her from escaping.

When she was finally able to open the door back up, the man punched her in the face before running out the front door, police said.

The man is described as a black male adult, 20 to 25 years old, roughly 6 feet tall with a medium complexion, thin build, short brown hair, hazel or green eyes. He was last seen wearing a green or white camouflage baseball cap, a green or white camouflage jacket, dark colored baggy pants, and may have had a backpack.

He was last seen running eastbound on Central Avenue toward Cedar Boulevard.

Police were investigating a report of a possible second suspect.

Anyone with any information about the incident should call police at 510-578-4237. Information can also be left anonymously on the "silent witness" hotline at 510-578-4000, extension 500.
