LIVERMORE -- Propane tanks that exploded in the sun likely caused a stubborn fire at a home off Concannon Boulevard on Friday afternoon, a fire official said.

No one was inside the house in the 2400 block of Normandy Circle when the fire was reported at 12:41 p.m.

The fire likely started along a fence and spread to the garage, attic and roof, firefighters said.

A car in the driveway was also damaged by the fire.

The blaze sent heavy white smoke into the sky above Livermore for a few hours.

Firefighters controlled the blaze by 2 p.m. and the cause remains under investigation. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
