CROCKETT -- A grass fire briefly shut down part of Interstate 80 near Cummings Skyway Saturday, according to fire officials.
The fire, which was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 3:49 p.m., forced crews to close a far left lane as they battled the blaze, which burned between 3 and 4 acres west of Crockett on a grassy hillside near a neighborhood, according to the Rodeo-Hercules Fire District.
Heavy winds fueled the fire, but crews were able to contain it after two hours and no structures were damaged and no one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
