WALNUT CREEK -- A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after being struck by a car in the Rossmoor community on Sunday morning.
The driver who struck and hit the pedestrian was also injured, police said.
Officers were called at about 12:20 p.m. to the intersection of Stanley Dollar and Tice Creek drives for a report of a person who was hit by a car, police said.
A preliminary investigation revealed the car veered off the roadway, onto the sidewalk and struck the pedestrian.
Both the pedestrian and the driver of the vehicle were local residents and were both transported to local hospitals, police said. The extent of the driver's injuries were not immediately known, but the pedestrian was admitted into the hospital in serious condition, police said.
Police said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and as of Sunday evening the incident remained under investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Walnut Creek Police Department at 925-943-5844.
