OAKLAND -- The last of three men fatally shot within a 10-hour period March 31 in East Oakland was identified by authorities Monday as 36-year-old Dion Bell.
Authorities said the delay in releasing Bell's name was because his nearest next of kin was not located and informed of his death until recently.
Bell, of Oakland, was fatally shot about 8:11 p.m. March 31 at the intersection of 70th Avenue and Hawley Street.
Officer Rob Rosin said Bell was shot by someone who approached him on the sidewalk. No motive has been determined and no arrests have been made.
Shortly after 10 a.m. March 31, John Sonny Davis, 31, was killed as he sat inside a car in the 2400 block of 68th Avenue near his home. At 4:10 p.m. that day, Vitorrio Jackson, 37, of Oakland, was slain in the parking lot of a laundromat in the 8900 block of International Boulevard.
No motives have been released and no arrests have been made.
Police don't believe the killings are related.
