CLOVERDALE -- Police say a couple and their 4-year-old son died after their mobile home caught fire in Northern California after neighbors heard a loud boom.
Cloverdale police told the Santa Rosa Press Democrat (http://bit.ly/141uMcp ) that 33-year-old Charles Baynes, his 33-year-old wife Paula Baynes and their son Philip died early Monday in the fire.
Cloverdale Fire Battalion Chief Rick Blackmon told the paper that the home did not appear to have working smoke detectors.
Firefighters found the family in a smoke-filled bedroom in what officials believe was an accident.
A fourth resident, Charles Baynes' mother, was out of town when the fire happened.
