Farinaro dominant in Jayhawks victory Head-Royce's Steven Farinaro hurled six innings of no-hit ball with 11 strikeouts and just one walk, and teammate Ian Lituchy finished up the no-hitter with a perfect seventh inning in an 8-0 victory over Redwood Christian on April 30. Farinaro also smashed a solo home run in the Jayhawks' 4-3 loss to Redwood Christian on May 2.
Alameda gets two wins against Arroyo The Alameda High baseball team swept Arroyo in a two-game series last week to enter this week alone in second place in the West Alameda County Conference-Foothill Division. In the first game, Matt Esparza and Jesse Lewis combined for a four-hitter and Drew Huie was 3 for 3 with a run scored for Alameda in a 4-1 victory on May 1. Chris Scyphers and Lewis combined on a three-hitter on May 3, and Jim Ruck went 2 for 4 with two RBI in a 7-3 win.
El Cerrito's O'Neal wins league race Tyler O'Neal of the El Cerrito High Mountain Bike Club won the sophomore boys race at the league championships at Boggs Mountain State Forest in Middletown. El Cerrito teammates with top 20-finishes included Molly Radosevich (19th in the varsity girls race) and Riley Eyre (20th in the varsity girls race).

Marcus Billetter, Encinal baseball -- Billetter had a hand in both of the Jets' runs in a 2-1, 8-inning win over Castro Valley on May 3. He went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI in the WACC-Foothill victory. Matt Esparza, Alameda baseball -- Esparza allowed just one run on four hits in six innings on the mound in a 4-1 victory over Arroyo on May 1. Andrew Gu, Albany boys tennis -- The sophomore won his second straight North Coast Section Division I boys singles title with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Castro Valley's Miguel Diaz on May 4. Tucker McPhaul, Berkeley baseball -- The left-hander threw a five-hitter with five strikeouts as the Yellowjackets defeated Bishop O'Dowd 3-0 on May 1 in a WACC-Foothill game.
