FREMONT -- Police are investigating reports that a man attempted to lure a 13-year-old girl into his van this week as she walked near an elementary school in the city.

The girl was not injured.

About 1 p.m. Wednesday, a Fremont police officer driving near Millard Elementary School was flagged down by someone who reported that a had tried to lure the girl into his van as she walked near the school, said police Spokesman Geneva Bosques.

The girl's father also called 911 to report that a man tried to get his daughter to get into the vehicle.

The man, estimated to be in his late 30s, was described as having slick black hair and a small mustache. He drove a light blue Suburban-like van with a roof rack.

Witnesses told police the van also had logos or stickers on the driver's side and possible double doors.

Police checked the area but failed to locate the suspect, Bosques said.
