HAYWARD -- A man was injured this week in a drive-by shooting that may be gang-related outside an apartment complex in Hayward, police said.

Officers responded just before 9:40 p.m. on Monday to The Orange Tree apartments in the 27200 block of Manon Avenue for a report of shots being fired, said Sgt. Eric Krimm.

A white car driving south on Manon Avenue stopped in front of the apartment complex and someone inside the vehicle fired multiple rounds at a 37-year-old Hayward resident who walked with a friend, police said.

The victim, who did not live at the complex, was shot in the wrist and taken by ambulance to a hospital with a non life-threatening injury, Krimm said.

The shooting, which Krimm said may be gang-related, remained under investigation on Thursday.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 510-293-7000 or at the anonymous tip line at 510-293-7197.
