OAKLAND -- Five suspects were arrested Thursday after police say they robbed three women in Oakland's Grand Lake neighborhood.
The robbery occurred about 12:45 p.m. near Glenfield and Warfield avenues near Lake Merritt, police said.
Five suspects were driving around the area looking for robbery and burglary targets and three of them strong-armed the victims: three women, ages 86, 60 and 57, police said. Electronic items were taken and the suspects fled in a car.
After the victims reported the robbery, the suspects' car description was broadcast and Piedmont police pulled them over, not too far from where the incident happened.
Two men, ages 18 and 20, a 20-year-old woman and two 15-year-old boys were detained and the items stolen were recovered, police said. The were booked on suspicion of robbery, elder abuse and possession of stolen property.
