OAKLAND -- Alameda County Sheriff's deputies and Oakland police are searching for two armed and dangerous men who reportedly ran from a stolen vehicle they crashed during a chase in the Fruitvale district on Monday evening, authorities said.

Oakland police spotted the car, which had been reported stolen earlier, about 5:45 p.m. on Fruitvale Avenue, according to Alameda County Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson. Officers tried to pull the car over, but the driver fled at a high speed.

After a short pursuit, the driver crashed the car in front of a home at 55th Avenue and Camden Street, Nelson said. Four men got out of the car and ran in separate directions, though police caught up to two of them immediately.

Two of the men are still at large, Nelson said, and are considered armed and dangerous. Officers found a TEC-9 in the stolen vehicle, and broadcast an alert for all local law enforcement to be on the lookout for the suspects.
