OAKLAND -- Two men were arrested and real and replica guns as well as items taken in an earlier robbery were recovered Friday afternoon after police stopped a car in East Oakland for speeding, authorities said.
The two men, who were not immediately identified are 21 and 18 years old. Both are Berkeley residents, police said.
The Hyundai the men were in was spotted speeding by officers about 1 p.m. and after a brief pursuit it stopped in the 3200 block of 62nd Avenue. After the stop, one occupant could be seen trying to hide a gun, police said.
A real pistol and a replica pistol, some drugs and items taken in a robbery earlier Friday in West Oakland were found inside the car, police said.
The robbery took place around 11:30 a.m. Friday in the 500 block of Webster Street, police said. A 50-year-old Alameda woman was victimized in the street robbery; police recovered her purse and other items taken from her car.
The men were being interviewed by investigators late Friday and it was not known what they would be booked for.
