On 5/24/13 at 11:10 a.m., the Lafayette Police Department was notified of a robbery at the Lafayette Branch of the Patelco Credit Union. A lone subject had entered the bank, placed a backpack upon the counter and demanded that the teller place cash into the backpack. The suspect claimed to have firearm, but no weapon was displayed during the robbery. After obtaining an unspecified amount of cash, the suspect fled the bank on foot and is believed to have made his escape on a bicycle.

LAFAYETTE -- Police are looking for a man who robbed a Lafayette credit union office late Friday morning.

At 11:10 a.m., the Lafayette Police Department responded the Patelco Credit Union branch at 3498 Mt. Diablo Boulevard. When officers arrived, they were told a man had walked into the bank, placed a backpack on the counter and demanded that the teller put cash into it.

The suspect told the teller that he had a gun, but no weapon was seen during the robbery, according to the Lafayette Police Department.

After getting an unspecified amount of cash, the suspect ran out of the bank. Police believe he may have fled on a bicycle.

A search of the area was completed but the suspect was not located.

Police stopped BART service at the Lafayette Station during the search. Trains were restarted a short time later, police said.
