This just in: Every action hero from the last century who hasn't been in one of "The Expendables" movies will automatically be cast in the third one.

The producers of "Expendables 3" are negotiating with Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes and Milla Jovovich to fill out the next cast of mercenaries, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said during a conference call with investors Friday.

They're also talking to Charlton Heston's people, just in case someone made a mistake.

Chan, of course, starred in the "Rush Hour" franchise and has been bringing Karate to the big screen for more than three decades. Cage stopped behaving like a real actor back in the '90s, becoming one of Jerry Bruckheimer's favorite action heroes in films like "The Rock" and "Con Air."

Snipes sliced up vampires in the "Blade" trilogy and was in other popular thrillers like "Passenger 57," before the government realized he wasn't paying his taxes and put him in jail. He's out now and ready to resume dropping ominous one-liners.

Jovovich -- at 37 a bit young for this group -- is an intriguing idea. There hasn't been much female participation in the first two films. She has proved her lethality in the "Resident Evil" series.

Feltheimer said production will start in August, targeting a 2014 release.

And speaking of old people doing action movies, Feltheimer also said Lionsgate has high hopes for this summer's "Red 2." In fact, there's so much confidence, that screenwriters Jon and Erich Hoeber have been hired to begin work on a third film.
