Alameda Little League

The Alameda Little League season has concluded with championship games and Closing Ceremonies both held June 8. The division winners from Majors through AA will now play in the Little League District 4 Tournament of Champions (TOC) beginning June 15. Alameda Little League will host the Majors and AAA division TOCs. The tournament schedules are accessible through the league website at www.alamedalittleleague.org.

Majors Division

Champion: Pappo Restaurant Athletics managed by Mike Barnes;

Runner up: Kevin Kearney, CPA Tigers managed by Darren Boyden.

AAA Division

Champion: Zero2R Stars managed by Charles Targett;

Runner up: Funtime Photo Booth Threshers managed by David Proffitt.

AA Division

Karin Fox, Harbor Bay Realty Bulls managed by Ken Cala; Stem to Stern Boating Services Mudhens managed by Marc Fournier.

A Division

Alameda Natural Grocery Volcanoes managed by Josh Abraham; Torrey Pines Bank Owlz managed by James Araujo.

Pappo Restaurant Athletics 10, The Open Group Cubs 3: Athletics pitchers Eli Ottaviano, Jackson Ball, and Nate Low combined for 10 strikeouts. Run scoring hits were provided by Seamus McGuiness, Jackson Cooke, Tony Norris-Silva, Jackson Ball (2 1B) and Jackson Barnes. Jackson Saulovich and Clay Restagno each scored stealing home. Zach Repsold hit a two RBI double, Jackson Barnes also had a double and Nate Low, Eli Ottaviano, Ricardo Tremper, Jack Saulovich contributed singles. The Cubs pitched Dean Sarmiento, K.W. Quilici and Nick Saikley. Offensively, Adam Chan led the Cubs with a two-run single, and Neil Donovan. Mason Layag, Nick Saikley and Ernest Ho added base hits. Max Davis scored on Chauncey Villagrana's ground out.

Farm Division

Chef's Wok Orioles, Herbs vs. Spice Catering Indians: For the Orioles, Willett Hunter, Qiara Houston-Cecaci and Logan Thorton led the offense with solid hits. In the field, True Morenz made a nice out at first, and Mauricio Rocha-Chavez snagged a tough ball in the outfield and threw out the runner out at first. Grant Tomono and Evan Furuichi combined for a key out, and Matthew Vuorenma also had a great play from the mound. The Indians' offense was led by Charlie Norton, Milo Kochevar and Ziggy Mintz. Great defensive plays were also turned by Issac Bellerini, Liam Smusz and Dominic Deligato.

12U/14U Division Championship

Great Kids Educational Therapy Blue Lightning 15, Citizen Canine Blue Penguins 10: A strong defense and offense was on display between the Blue Penguins and Lightning. For the Blue Lightning, pitchers Briana St. Denis and Sophia Piamonte held the Penguins at bay. A pick-off double play by catcher Elizabeth Legg and shortstop by Briana St. Denis held the game tied in the fourth. A double by Carlin Shannon, and home run by Piamonte led the Penguins offense. The Blue Lightning offense erupted for seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to seal the victory.

Playoffs

Citizen Canine Blue Penguins 14, Cherry Bombers 12: The Blue Penguins defeated the Cherry Bombers in a high scoring game. The Bombers scored 12-runs on multiple hits from Lauren Lum (3 R, 2 RBI), Beatrice Levy (R, 2 RBI). Dougherty (R, RBI), Mesterhazy (RBI), Annika Stenstedt (R) Jackie Lim (R), Rachel Nonan (R), Gabrielle Strauser (R).
